Celebrate June & Running Chics Tote Giveaway

For those who do not know me June marks my official one year mark of being a "runner". I am so impressed with myself for hanging in there and sticking with this. A couple of years ago my husband tried to get me to run when we went to the park to walk, I basically stomped my foot and said NO WAY AM I GOING TO RUN GO AHEAD & GO IF YOU WANT TO! And now look at me, although for the last couple of months I feel like I haven't taken it too seriously, I am wanting to up my weekly mileage and get a more consist running schedule. I am thinking I would like to find another half to do in the fall but we will see what happens! To celebrate I am having some giveaways this month:)

The other day I received a happy little package from Andrea @ Running Chics!

This tank is one of the most comfortable tanks I have EVER put on!! I LOVE how it is longer and not short waisted. I haven't run in it yet as I am saving it for my "race" outfit on Saturday, I did put it on and wear it around the house for a while. The fabric is VERY soft and comfortable, no one could go wrong purchasing one of these babies!! The alo Mesh Back Tank also comes in Navy(which I also want) black, red, white, turquoise and currant(the one I got:)
Along with my wonderful tank I also received
This cute tote bag but not just for me, also one for one lucky Blogger!! I can't wait to be sportin' mine at the gym, how about you?? Bet ya wanna know how to win....

my first race was a 5K in 2005. I had no clue and bought an all Nike running outfit ... that I thought was a running outfit -- cotton long sleeve top and wind pants -- I laugh at that now. I believe I came in at 31 minutes.

My first 5K was almost exactly a year ago. My husband ended up getting called into work that morning, so I put my son in his stroller and pushed him (for the first time while running) the whole 5K course. I finished in 36min and some change.
I am still really proud of that race, and will actually be running that same 5K this weekend.

the tank top and even long sleeves. I live in Nebraska so we need stuff for all sorts of weather (sometimes on the same day)

My first race was a 5K in my current town. It was for breast cancer research and wasn't really a race but a walk. They added a running portion and it was the lady leading the running, 15 10yo boys and me pushing my 2 sons. cool, right?

I just went to their site and saw their swimming chics t-shirts too. I love it! Hopefully they'd also inspire me to swim more ;)

And my first race was the 5K they hold at the same time as the LA marathon, it was a stepping stone to see if I could do it, absorb the energy of the marathoners, and inspire me to run two marathons later on!

I found that they have just about everything a runner would ever want. But, I am a need of a good headband to keep my fly-aways out of my face while running.

First race outside of school teams was the shamrock shuffle (8K). I was in high school and wanted to participate in the 8k but I couldn't since I was a part of the school team. So, I registered for the kids 100 dash. I was so embarrassed. Just picture it, a tall high school student running the 100 dash with all the kids. I got a sweet kids metal. The race was in the heart of chicago.

My first race was Timothy Moshier 5k in April 2008. He was killed in Iraq. I had just started running. I couldn't believe that I was able to run a 5k. I got to addicted to running after that.

My first race would have been a 100 meter dash in 7th grade. My biggest worry was staying in my lane...I tend to walk sideways.
