Week #2 Marathon Training/ Weird feeling

Hooray week 2 is done! Here's how it went:
Monday - 4miles/40:29
Thursday - 4miles/37:10   (Sheri did 4 on the 'mill' on Wednesday 38:13)
Saturday - 4miles/38:45
Sunday- 6miles/58:43 Long Run

Again this week with schedule conflicts and weather we ended up having to run not exactly the correct schedule but we did get all of the runs & miles. Being two weeks in I am getting more used to the extra miles but having a two day break in between was a little rough. Sheri got an awesome 4 under 40 on the treadmill so I knew I needed to do a great 4 by myself on Thursday and that I did. I went out from work and do not know a 4mile route but I do know a good 3.30mi so I was just planning on adding from that. When I set out I told myself "Do not look at your time/pace just go!" and I used garbage cans to pretend it was Sheri ahead of me and I needed to catch her! Well as you can see above it WORKED! Sunday after our long run when I got in my car to go home I got this weird feeling and my vision in my right eye was blurry, I felt like I couldn't get home fast enough and maybe like I was going to pass out or throw up?!?!?! I also got a terrible terrible headache in my left eye. I went straight home changed clothes and hit the couch for several hours. Looking back I think maybe I got a migraine but not sure. I did take a GU for the first time in a LONG time on an empty stomach at that so I am also wondering if that didn't mess with me a little? Anyone else ever have these feelings?

Overall this entire week was full of great runs! That of course if very encouraging to me and is really helping me with the mental challenging facing 26.2! I think I can! I think I can!

The feeling you described has happened to me. My vision in one eye was affected. It felt like I had been staring at the sun for too long, but just with one eye. My peripheral vision was gone! Later when the vision disturbance subsided, I had a killer headache on the opposite side of my head. Google "ocular migraine". I have 2 doctors in the family and they told me not to worry unless it happened again. It hasn't. This occurred on Thanksgiving Day after a 5 mile run.

Nice work on this week's runs! Very weird about the headache/vision issue. Hopefully it was just a freak occurrence and won't happen again.

Wow - that is a fantastic week. Way to go! I hope your headache/vision problem doesn't happen again. Take care of yourself. :)

Great runs!! I have gotten terrible headaches after runs and normally drinking some Gatorade or extra water helps. I think it's probably from dehydration.

I get migraines and they always start with blurry vision and the pain is usually concentrated on one eye. I usually throw up before I sleep the headache off for the rest of the day. Excedrin Migraine usually can help but does not stop the pain entirely.

Be careful with migraines whilst running especially if you have to cross roads, I nearly got run over one day. If you want a little more variety in your training feel free to take a look at our site www.marathon-trainingschedule.com
