I Need Help/Suggestions

I am having a terrible problem with long distance runs. Any run over 6miles I am getting terrible AWFUL blisters on the inside of my big toes, not just one but both of them! It started only on the right side then I think I favored my left side to compensate so now its on both. I have had the same shoes since February/March and am just now having this problem? I feel like I have tried everything and nothing seems to be helping! It bothers me at first when I start to run but then I think I go numb to it until sometime towards the end then they start to hurt again. Just everyday walking seems to hurt the most. Is it better to "pop" them or not? I have been doing that but that seems to make them sore and when I don't "pop" them it seems like they get bigger and bigger and could explode at any moment! UGGHHH!

Sorry I know this is getting into TMI territory but I need some suggestions on things to try, I am getting desperate as my Marathon is less than a month away and I would LOVE to find a cure before then.

Any chance your shoes are getting too many miles on them if you've had them since February? I used to get blisters but changing to a different kind of socks helped and I haven't had issues since.

Are you wearing the same kind of socks? Avoid cotton and go with synthetic fibers for better wicking. Is your route wetter this time of year?

Just some things to think about.

2 things. Try injinji toe socks. They seem strange but they help so so much. Also, body glide the blister spots to keep them from coming back. It seems like once i get a foot or toe blister, it just keeps wanting to happen again.

Good luck!!

maybe your shoes are worn out? I also agree with Bobbi try different socks, rub your feet with vaseline before you run, or bodyglide. Hope it gets better! or what about trying wider shoes?

I was going to suggest Injinji socks too! I used to get blisters in the same spot, and also on the side of my second toe, so I bought Injinji for my long runs and haven't had any issues since. They are a bit pricier, but totally worth it!

they have special blister band-aids you may want to try...it cushions the blister so that it doesn't kill you :) And then I would try different socks..the blister band-aids are pure heaven!
