Family Fun on Easter

I know our oldest daughter thinks we are doing things more as a family  since she has left home but the things we have been doing are things I don't really think she would enjoy. Like today ......

For some time now the youngest  daughter  Baylee  has been  saying how she'd like to go hiking and said it again  the other day. Lucky enough for us we have Shaker Village  of Pleasant  Hill 10 minutes down the road!

Baylee  is 17 years old and graduates this year. It has kinda hit me in the last few months  that pretty  soon that's it I'm no longer in control of her and she's  free to "leave" if she wanted too! It's kinda scary to me. Our oldest daughter  is 22 years old I honestly  thought  she'd never leave home and BAM just like that without  warning  she moved out! With a boy at that! Anyway  I'm trying  to spend  as much quality  time as I can because  you just never know.

We hit the Shawnee Run trail, it's the only trail I've done there besides  the trail runs.

Baylee  was so happy  she smiled  and talked and talked! She bounced back and forth  between  us  and took in all of the sights.

She enjoyed it so much we are already planning  another  hiking trip to Natural  Bridge  in a couple  of  weeks ! Along with many many other trips we hope to take one day. It makes  me so wonderfully  happy that she is enjoying  things like this I only wish we would've started doing these things earlier  in  life!

Day 9 of the Flu- Turned out to be a Good Day!

I am supposed  to be well into marathon  training  but with all the stupid sickness  I've  had I'm  really  behind. I actually  wasn't  to sold on the idea of doing Horse Capital  Marathon  again  but darn it I just can't  give up on a challenge , I mean after all Run the Bluegrass  is probably  the hardest half I will EVER run and now I'm a 6 year streaker! (It's actually  7 years but they changed  hands)
Anyway to half way be on track today should've  been  14 miles. I've  had the stupid flu all week  and have done NOTHING  barely  eat let alone any kind of exercise. Last night I still  didn't  feel  the best but I text my BRF'S (best running friends) and told them I'm  going  may be terribly  slow and walk lots but I'm  going  as long  as  I  wasn't  just terrible  when I woke up☺.
I woke up feeling  ready to run! I didn't  think I could/should  really do all 14 on schedule  but I thought 10 was acceptable . The first 3.5 miles was great no aches or pains just fighting  a runny nose. My buddy David  likes to run everything  but walk the up hills  I've grown  to love it too! So that's  what we did today I was thankful. We stopped  by the car for  a  pit stop with just 3.5 miles  to go surprisingly  I was still feeling  OK but not as great as the beginning. Mile 8-9 is always  my wall and that's  where it hit me today.
In the end I was thrilled  I was able to run the 10 miles and we was about  30 seconds faster on our overall  pace than 3 weeks  ago !  I think that means some progress is being  made right??

Run Happy ;)

Oh Me Oh My

Gosh I really stink at this  blogging thing and for the longest time I'm  thinking  I really stink at the whole running thing. It seems like I've had set back after set back that's made it hard extremely  hard mentally  (more than physically ) to keep  on.

What's going on?
* I barely  survived the Savanah R'nR marathon   (I have a post that never got published  on that!)
* I continued  to have problems  with the plantar fascitis and started having shin issues- probably  due to all the weight gain my feet and legs aren't used to running with all that weight.
* I barely  survived the Disney Dopey challenge  physically, mentally and personally yet I still had the time of my life and hope to do it again one year!
* Upon returning  from Disney I got pneumonia and couldn't  run for 3 weeks which helped my feet/legs get better!
* Finally starting  to run decent still not where I want to be see hope in sight and I get the flu! Maybe it will help she'd a couple of pounds 
* Just personal  life in general  issues dragging me down some I share with others some I just hold inside.
I'm trying to remain positive and not give up hope. I think back to when I thought I was a good runner and remember I did it once I can do it again ! I don't have to be number one or better than anyone else I just want to get back to the better me the one that could run for days and days and enjoy it each time. I'm getting there I'm doing things to help myself plus it's helps that warmer weather is close to staying around!
I hope I can stick with the blogging thing I think it helps me to have a place to share my thoughts good bad or otherwise  and I like the occasional  comments  good bad or otherwise  Lol!
Besides all that I've got the Best Running Friends EVER !!!
